jun 30 2010 Ogilvy Group has summed up its achievements at Cannes Lions 2010. This year the network picked up a record 57 Lions. This made Ogilvy a #2 global network in terms of the number of Lions won. “I believe this is our biggest haul of Lions, ever. Last year, by comparison, we bagged 31 Lions, which makes this year's achievement an amazing 83.9% increase on last year”, says Tham Khai Meng, Worldwide Creative Director, member of Worldwide Board and Executive Committee of Ogilvy & Mather. 26 Ogilvy offices won 3 gold, 18 silver, and 36 bronze Lions. 22 Lions were captured by EAME, 20 by Latina, 13 by Asia and 2 by North America. Nearly 200 Ogilvy entries were shortlisted. Sao Paulo was Ogilvy’s leading office at Cannes, accounting for 10 Lions. Frankfurt earned six Lions. Paris was Ogilvy’s third highest achieving office at Cannes winning five Lions. Bangkok, Guatemala, Johannesburg and Mexico each won three Lions. Mumbai, Santiago, Shanghai, Stockholm, Vienna each won two Lions. The following offices won one Lion each: Beijing, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Dubai, Gurgaon, Helsinki, Kolkota, Kuala Lumpur, London, New York, Singapore, Taipei and Washington. “It is worth mentioning that 2 of 3 gold Lions earned by the network were won by Ogilvy PR teams at the PR Lions contest”, says Andrey Barannikov, CEO of SPN Ogilvy. “Both were earned by our Scandinavian neighbors for campaigns with heroic titles: “Save the Baltic Sea” for SASS 2010 by Taivas Helsinki in the Public Affairs category and “Save Christmas” for Kraft Foods by Prime PR/Ogilvy Stockholm in the category “Best Use of Social Media”. The latter also won a Silver Lion in the category “Consumer Goods”, accompanied by the Sociable Drive campaign for Ford by the Washington office. PR Lions were only introduced last year, and it is great to see that Ogilvy PR is already a noticeable winner there”. “We are thrilled by the performance of the Ogilvy network and are sending our congratulations to the colleagues”, says Andrey Barannikov. “No Russian agency has won a Lion at Cannes so far. Hopefully, Ogilvy will be the first to capture one in the nearest future”.
