Miles Young, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, to speak at The Baltic PR Weekend 2010

Miles Young, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, will speak at the plenary session of The Baltic PR Weekend 10th International Conference, to be held on 16-17 September 2010 in St. Petersburg, Russia. His presentation is scheduled for 17 September.
“Miles’ visit is a true present to the guests of the anniversary conference”, says Andrey Barannikov, Chairman of The Baltic PR Weekend Organizing Committee, VP of the Russian Public Relations Association. “His diverse expertise in a variety of communication disciplines and his experience of working in different parts of the world will surely be of great interest to the attendees of The Baltic PR Weekend”.

Miles Young joined Ogilvy in 1983. He was appointed to the Board of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in London in 1986 and named Client Services Director in 1988.  In 1990 he became Managing Director of Ogilvy & Mather Direct in London, and from 1990-1995, he was a Regional Director of Ogilvy & Mather Direct Europe.  During this period he had the additional responsibility of setting up and running the IBM account in Europe which had previously been held by some 40 separate agencies.

In September 1995, he moved to Hong Kong to take up the position of Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, and serve on the Board and Executive Committee of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide.  In addition to his Ogilvy responsibilities, he represented WPP’s corporate interests in Asia.

Miles is very involved in university-level education in China.  He co-founded the Ogilvy-Tsinghua Program for Public Branding, a joint venture with Tsinghua University, Beijing, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua School of Journalism.  He is also an Economic Consultant to the Jiangsu, China Provincial Government, and a visiting Professor at Xiamen University.

In addition, he is a member of the Board of the US Pakistan Business Council in Washington, D.C. and the Prime Minister of Turkey's Investment Advisory Council.  He also serves as a member of the Board of the Museum  of Arts and Design in New York.

Miles assumed the position of CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide in January 2009 and is based in New York.

The Baltic PR Weekend is the largest international forum on public relations in Eastern Europe. It unites top communications practitioners from Russia and other countries, as well as business and government authorities, representatives of mass media, educational institutions and industry associations interested in the development of professional and ethical communications. The conference has been annually held in St Petersburg since 2001; it has been attended by over 3700 professionals from 20 countries.

The Baltic PR Weekend is co-organized by the Russian Public Relations Association (RASO) and SPN Ogilvy communication agency, and is supported by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).
